Matter and Energy Chemistry - What Is It And How Is It Used?
Matter and Energy Chemistry - What Is It And How Is It Used?Matter and energy chemistry is the study of the process by which substances are converted into the energy components that they require for their existence. Energy is simply any form of change in the form of a kinetic action. Therefore, we can define energy as that which makes a body move. We also know that the amount of this motion varies as the temperature and the density of the objects in a closed system changes. There are two types of energy: kinetic and potential. Kinetic energy is transferred from the substance to the environment and changes the molecular structure of the substance. This creates an open path for the flow of particles, in turn, moving the matter and giving rise to molecules. In most cases, this energy takes the form of heat and light. The first part of matter and energy chemistry is the analysis of the transformation of the substance into kinetic energy. This is known as the kinetic energy of the substance and it is expressed in units called J. The second part of matter and energy chemistry is the change of mass and energy of the substance into massless particles. These particles are referred to as ions. Kinetic energy is needed to move particles through the air to reach the earth and create electrical power. Heat energy is then released from the atoms in the substance to warm the earth.Once the molecules have traveled to the earth, they react with the atmosphere, giving rise to chemical energy. This chemical energy can be used to make fuels or other compounds, depending on the specific situation.Matter and energy chemistry involves three main phases: reduction, oxidation and condensation. Reduction means that matter is converted into an elemental form. Oxidation occurs when one of the elemental forms breaks down or transforms to a different elemental form. Condensation occurs when a bulk or a portion of the elemental form combines with another element. The final phase is known as bio catalysis, which is a biological process that involves the transfer of the chemical energy of living organisms to nonliving matter. When one species of life replaces another, the environment becomes more favorable for the former species. This changes the atmosphere in the world and makes life more suitable for the eventual survival of the former species. The principles of matter and energy chemistry are often associated with the concepts of physical chemistry. However, it has to be noted that the notion of matter and energy chemistry in general is not applicable to all chemical processes. Many chemicals rely on molecular bonding that are non-chemical in nature. Nevertheless, its application is commonly found in a wide variety of chemical processes. It is important to note that even though matter and energy chemistry are not part of the physical chemistry term, it still plays a significant role in the field. Chemical reactions are very important and the definition of chemical reaction is very much related to the idea of matter and energy chemistry. In fact, even many physical chemists would classify as matter and energy chemistry because of how chemical reactions are the underlying basis of all physical chemistry.
